JATC offers electric vehicle infrastructure training course

The Atlanta Electrical JATC is hosting an Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) on July 15 to teach electrical workers about the future of electric vehicles in the U.S.

This training program is open to Local 613 members, with a further breakdown of qualifications as follows: Registrants must have obtained journeymen status, be a fifth-year apprentice or be an IBEW Local 613 contractor or contractor personnel.

There is a cost of $208.44, which will be billed at a later time. Limited scholarships may be available (more information coming soon).

The U.S. infrastructure is shifting toward renewable resources and the IBEW wants to stay ahead of the curve. As electric vehicles become more popular, infrastructure will be needed to support them.

The EVITP training course will help electrical workers prepare for the changing infrastructure and economy.

Some specific topics covered during the EVITP include the future outlook of electric vehicles, battery specifications, National Electric Code standards, National Fire Protection Association and OSHA standards and more.

In addition to these classroom focused topics, participants will also learn about the practicality of electric vehicle infrastructure. This includes grid integration and stress, installing and maintaining electric vehicle infrastructure, safety measures and more.

This course is a great opportunity for Local 613 members and signatory contractors to get ahead of the curve, as this technology will become even more popular.

There is a vested interest in offering this course, as having a highly trained workforce will help Local 613 and its signatory contractors obtain work. Breaking into this field is crucial to holding our market share.

Those interested in registering for the course can learn more and sign up here.
